Automotive Technician

Transdev in Midland and Big Lake, TX is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive engines across various vehicles and equipment. As an A-Level Fleet Automotive Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and longevity of our assets. Candidates must have proven knowledge of and experience working with Dodge, Chevrolet (Chevy), and Ford engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for engines.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Proven knowledge of and experience working with Dodge, Chevrolet (Chevy), and Ford engines.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mechanic.
  • CDL License preferred.
  • ASE certifications preferred; ASE certification program provided.
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
