Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Midland, Texas. In this long-term contract position, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting processes. This is a great opportunity for professionals experienced in reconciliation, fixed assets, and corporate tax functions.

Responsibilities:

- Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, balance sheets, and daily financial transactions.

- Manage fixed and capital assets by tracking, recording, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records.

- Analyze and resolve account discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.

- Handle accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.

- Utilize systems like Open Invoice and Ariba for efficient invoice management.

- Assist in preparing corporate and sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.

- Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.

- Monitor and improve accounting procedures to optimize operations.

- Collaborate with other departments to address financial queries and reporting needs. Requirements - Proven experience in fixed assets management and account reconciliation.

- Strong understanding of corporate and sales tax processes.

- Proficiency in accounting systems such as Open Invoice and Ariba.

- Ability to work with general ledger and prepare accurate journal entries.

- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams.
