JobPurpose and Summary
Within our Retail locations, we bring our promise to life daily. Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a DSP you will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support pharmacy teams, and be accountable for the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team to follow safety guardrails at every workstation.
- Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance and/or medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
- Support the effective management of pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow best practices, especially for cold chain products.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seek learning opportunities, and stay current with industry developments.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception).
- Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people kindly, notice patient reactions, and respond appropriately.

- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical Demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift and handle items up to 20 lbs, use fingers for detailed tasks, and maintain eye‑hand precision.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is $60.00 – $76.00 per hour.
