Overview
This weekend-only position cares for patients before, during and after angiography, interventional, and angiographic cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities include pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of cath process, post-cath care, patient education, and assisting other members of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Responsibilities- Performs nursing care of the catheterization/angiography, Interventional Radiology, EP, Neuro and Vascular patient population (35%).
- Operates equipment including cardiac output, hemodynamic monitoring, pacemakers/ICD’s, intra-aortic balloon pump, etc.; transfers patients, stocks supplies, and performs basic office procedures (35%).
- Learns sterile technique with the ability to gown and glove, open sterile trays and products, and set up sterile trays (15%).
- Records all pertinent information on data sheets and within the EMR (15%).
- Assist in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed and perform clinical functions as required.

Basic Life Support (Essential: true) - ACLS:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Essential: true) - RN:
Registered Nurse (Essential: true) - Equivalent experience and qualification sources vary by credential per role requirements (Within 1 month of hire or transfer as specified).
- Education:
ASSOC;
Bachelor degree in nursing preferred. - Education Specialization:
NRG (as specified). - Essential: true
- Knowledge of critical care nursing typically gained through 2 years of experience in a medical center or similar setting.
- Electrophysiology skills with a minimum of 1 year experience in an electrophysiology lab environment.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals and groups at all levels.
- Knowledge and operation of intra-aortic balloon pump.
- Exposure to stressful situations, trauma, grief, and death; ability to wear PPE including latex-free options if required.
- Ability to move about the facility with or without assistive devices and perform job functions as outlined.
- Baseline vision and hearing; ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods; frequent postural changes may be required.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens; compliance with health and safety testing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay alert.
- Physical demand level:
Medium; lifting/carrying weights as specified, with varying daily requirements.
