Roles

Northwood University is seeking to fill one part-time Library Assistant position with a flexible work schedule to include days, nights, and rotating weekends. Applicants must be able to provide support to the library by maintaining excellent customer service for students, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors.
Responsibilities
  • Support the library with clerical and organizational needs.
  • Maintain physical periodical and newspaper collections.
  • Assist the Circulation Desk and occasionally oversee student workers.
  • Assist the Technical Processor and Librarian as needed.
  • Support students and faculty in the use of library resources online and in person.
  • Prepare marketing and/or educational materials in coordination with library events, courses, workshops, Lib Guides, and more.
  • Open and close the facility when scheduled.
  • Prepare and maintain statistical data.
  • Performs other misc. duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Prior work experience with customer service, data processing, marketing, technical library experience, or the like is preferred.
  • Flexibility in scheduling hours; some nights and weekends required.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow and uphold the Northwood University policy and vision daily.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Understand the library procedures and reliably carry them out.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and willing to participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve services.
  • Work a minimum of 18-24 hours per week.
