Overview
The Onsite PAT RN is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients, families, and significant others to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support that impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The PAT RN provides clinical access management by performing risk‑stratified assessments via telephone or during a PAT visit, collaborating and communicating with the multidisciplinary team caring for patients requiring anesthesia services.
The PAT RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in nursing practice. The PAT RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence‑based principles and the Premier Health Pre‑Procedure Anesthesia Guidelines to care for a diverse patient population within the department scope of service.
Part‑time, 40 hours per pay.
Varied dayshift hours.
ResponsibilitiesThe PAT RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry. The PAT RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter‑professional team. The PAT RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and applicable regulatory standards.
Education- Bachelor's degree (for nurses hired before June 4, 2014, a bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required when peri‑anesthesia experience is present).
- Valid Ohio RN license.
- Current CPR certification; BLS AHA CPR.
Minimum 3–5 years of job‑related experience.
Preferred experience:
3–5 years of peri‑anesthesia experience and/or a minimum of 3 years of medical‑surgical inpatient experience. Ambulatory/outpatient experience, phlebotomy competence, and performing 12‑lead EKGs are preferred but not required if the candidate is willing to train and maintain these competencies.
- Ability to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
- Computer knowledge and experience – keyboarding, Microsoft Office, smartphones, downloading apps, multifactor authentication, and learning new technologies such as Cisco.
- EPIC EMR knowledge, experience, comfort, and maneuverability.
- Strong organization skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
