MidPointe Library – IT Technician – Full Time – Middletown, Ohio

At MidPointe, our mission is to enrich our community through access and experiences. We do that by connecting a curious community to our services & we strive to provide a positive learning experience.

Working in the IT Department is a mix of customer service to co-workers & library patrons solving technological problems and fulfilling tech-related requests through help desk support for Windows & Apple Mac environments; computer troubleshooting to resolve problems with hardware & software; providing LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi support; monitoring network systems & software; virtual infrastructure support; hardware & software installation & updating;

monitoring & adjusting VOIP systems; & computer projects. You'll be talking with co-workers in-person, via email, online, or over the phone to help them with various computer issues. You'll also be in the public areas fixing or repairing the computers, printers, & various devices that the public use.

MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. To be successful, you will need to:
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in computer or management information science is highly desired.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years in-person (not remote or only phone) work experience in computers & network technical support.
  • Be able to travel between library facilities at a moment’s notice and be insurable on the library’s insurance.
  • Have prior experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems, as well as be familiar with the Apple Mac environment.
  • Working experience in the use and configuration of network components including routers, switches, and servers.
  • A good knowledge of Active Directory, Entra, Office 365, virtualization, LAN, WAN and Hyper V is needed. Microsoft Azure, and Sierra integrated library software (ILS) experience is highly desired.
  • Prior experience with or knowledge of cybersecurity is advantageous.
  • Make effective decisions based on sound judgement, technical knowledge, analytical reasoning & resourcefulness.
  • Be able to learn & carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Regular & predictable physical attendance & punctuality is needed.
Hours:

Full time, 40 hours per week. Hours are generally Mon-Fri, 8-5, with occasional late/early shifts and weekends for IT assistance.

Rate of Pay:

The pay range is $22.65 - $36.00 per hour, the pay rate depends on job factors such as experience, job skills, education, and languages spoken.

Physical Requirements:

-Manual dexterity sufficient to use tools for computer maintenance, to operate library equipment & perform general typing & keyboard operation.

-Must be able to tolerate moderate noise levels in the computer room & in the public areas.

-Able to work in areas that may contain cleaning product odors, dust, or other possible allergens.

-Must hear and see or use prosthetic that will enable assurance of position requirements.

-Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish letters, words & numbers, as well as work with & view software & hardware, as well as a wide variety of materials, in both print & electronic format as needed for the position.

-Must be able to lift materials, manipulate boxes & computer equipment that could weigh up to 75+ pounds & be able to run cables & other hardware behind & under furniture.
