Pharmacy

Shifts:

7:00 am‑3:30 pm, 9:00 am‑5:30 pm, 1:00 pm‑9:30 pm, 3:00 pm‑11:30 pm

A Certified Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engages in the following activities to the extent that the activities do not require the exercise of professional judgment.

• Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile
• Preparing and affixing labels
• Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory
• Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers
• Placing dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist
• Non‑sterile drug compounding following the completion of site‑specific training
• Sterile drug compounding following the completion of a site‑specific training
• Stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts

• Prepare medication doses prior to a pharmacist’s review and dispensing
• Perform non‑sterile and sterile medication compounding after required training
• Restock medications in automated dispensing cabinets
• Delivery of medications to patient care areas
• Monitor drug inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of medications without stockpiling supplies
• Troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy
• Must be familiar with pharmacy software
• Must use aseptic technique, wear appropriate attire, and follow standards in aseptic compounding
• Must maintain a clean and safe working environment

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum:
High School completion / GED. Preferred educational qualifications: Completion of an ASHP/ACPE‑accredited technician education and training program.

Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.

Minimum:
No prior job‑related work experience.

Preferred:
Prior hospital, long‑term care or retail experience.

• Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem‑solving skills
• Able to read and write printed material in English
• Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
• Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy; must be familiar with pharmacy software
• Possess ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as team member
• Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers
