* ** Position Summary*
* The Inclusive Education Support Specialist provides instructional, behavioral, and sensory support to children with disabilities across classroom, community, and arts-based learning environments. This role builds an encouraging, structured environment where students can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively. The Specialist partners with teachers, therapists, and families to implement individualized goals, promote independence, and ensure every learner has access to meaningful and inclusive learning experiences.
** Key Responsibilities*
* ** Instructional & Learning Support*
* + Assist students during whole-group lessons, small groups, and 1:1 instruction to ensure inclusion and full engagement.
+ Adapt class materials, activities, and directions to meet varied learning styles and needs.
+ Reinforce academic skills through guided practice, modeling, prompting, and structured routines.
** Behavioral & Emotional Support*
* + Implement positive behavior support strategies, including visual schedules, reinforcement systems, and emotional regulation tools.
+ Support students during transitions, sensory breaks, and challenging moments using calm and trauma‑informed practices.
+ Maintain a safe, respectful environment that encourages student confidence and self-advocacy.
** Sensory & Therapeutic Engagement*
* + Facilitate or assist with sensory-based activities such as sound therapy, music sessions, movement breaks, or art-based regulation strategies.
+ Support individualized sensory plans and monitor student responses to tools such as fidgets, noise-canceling headphones, or calming spaces.
** Collaboration & Communication*
* + Work closely with teachers, therapists (OT, SLP, BCBA), and program coordinators to ensure alignment with student goals (IEPs, behavior plans, or program plans).
+ Communicate observations, progress, and concerns in a clear, professional manner.
+ Participate in team meetings, trainings, and workshops as required.
** Documentation & Administrative Tasks*
* + Maintain accurate notes on student participation, behavior, and daily accomplishments.
+ Assist with attendance tracking, activity setup, materials preparation, and light administrative duties.
** Qualifications*
* ** Required*
* + Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities in educational, community, or therapeutic environments.
+ Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced or emotionally charged situations.
+ Ability to implement and learn behavior supports, sensory strategies, and inclusive teaching techniques.
+ High school diploma or equivalent (some roles may require an associate degree or higher).
