Our Pharmacy Managers play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their respective pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for their pharmacy team.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow-up.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by following best practices, protecting cold chain products for patients and business.
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, ensuring trainees are on-track for timely completion of required training and licensure.
- Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalated issues to Rx DL as needed.
- Partner with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues; ensure training completion for licensure.
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through observation, feedback, and annual reviews.
- Maintain flexible scheduling for business needs, managing pharmacy schedules and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
- Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps.
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; build psychological safety by encouraging feedback and taking action.
- Maintain relevant technical skills; actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
- Support access to care through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services); empower holistic care at every step.
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and professional regulations; uphold CVS Health policies to ensure patient safety and a safe workplace.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- 1‑2 years of experience as a Pharmacist.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention and focus – concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Customer service and team orientation – look for ways to help, respond appropriately to patient reactions.
- Communication skills – active listening, clear verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.
- Mathematical reasoning – calculate medication quantities and inventory accurately.
- Problem resolution – choose best course of action for challenging interactions.
- Physical demands – mobile, lift items up to 20 lbs., maintain precision and safe work posture.
- Team management and leadership – lead by example, delegate, empower, motivate, and provide constructive feedback.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
