APPRENTICE LINEMAN
Essential Duties/Responsibilities and Requirements
Apprentice will work under direct supervision of Journeyman or Lineman II.
Constructs, maintains, modifies and repairs municipally owned electrical distribution systems and related equipment. Trims trees around equipment such as pad mounted transformers and customer's service meters. Uses hand tools to dig pole holes and cable trenches. Performs work on energized primary circuits under direct supervision of Journeyman Lineman. Performs work on energized secondary circuits under 600 volts with direct supervision.
Essential Requirements:
* Learn and assist with construction, maintenance, modification and repairs of municipally owned electrical distribution systems and related equipment.
* Trims trees around equipment such as pad mounted transformers and customer's service meters.
* Uses hand tools to dig pole holes and cable trenches. Performs work on energized primary circuits under direct supervision of Journeyman Lineman
* Performs work on energized secondary circuits under 600 volts with direct supervision of Journeyman or Lineman II
* Successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. Must have CDL Class B license or obtain it within 60 days of accepting the position.
* Must maintain enrollment and successfully complete the educational requirements necessary to become a lineman.
* Must be able to respond within 30 min. when on-call and during emergency situations.
* Must be able to work at heights of up to 60' above ground level, frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, and pushing/pulling; using hoist and dollies to life and move heavy objects; and physically lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
