Position Details
  • Status:
    Part-time, Non-Exempt
  • Hours per week: 24
  • Schedule:

    Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (includes one 15‑minute paid break per day)
Scope of Position
  • Provide basic receptionist and office duties.
  • Assist with emergency assistance services to individuals in need, including food, rent, utility assistance, referrals, and holiday toys.
  • Coordinate food pantry operations, track and report statistical data.
  • Promote community programs offered by the Corps.
  • Assist with Christmas toy and food basket programs.
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the guidelines in The Salvation Army’s Employee Manuals and the dress code.
  • Answer phones, filter out telemarketers, take messages, and manage incoming faxes.
  • Assist with holiday assistance programs, such as Adopt‑a‑Family, Angel Tree, and Holiday meals.
  • Support daily operation of Emergency Assistance Programs—including interviews, referrals, and client assistance.
  • Perform office tasks: typing, filing, mailing, ordering supplies.
  • Attend community meetings and maintain a clean, orderly office and reception area.
  • Respond to emails within one to two business days.
  • Complete client documentation, including case notes, and secure confidential records.
  • Coordinate food pantry aspects: orders, receiving, stocking, inventory.
  • Create, update, and distribute Corps’ brochures and flyers.
  • Collaborate with Corps Officers to resolve client situations.
  • Greet clients and provide necessary forms.
  • Interview, train, and supervise community service volunteers.
  • Inform the Corps Officer of community needs and potential revenue sources.
  • Maintain a database of community resources for client referrals.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all client interactions.
  • Schedule appointments for clients as appropriate.
  • Provide direct services: intake, assessment, referrals, advocacy, and material assistance such as food, clothing vouchers, furniture vouchers, and personal hygiene items.
  • Refer clients for spiritual guidance to Corps Officers.
  • Represent The Salvation Army professionally and positively.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in social work or related field preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of work or volunteer experience in social services or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, organize responsibilities, multitask, and work independently.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred;
    English proficiency required.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse populations and maintain discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Detail‑oriented with keen attention to accuracy.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and high energy level with solid work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of community resources.
  • Strong customer‑service skills and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of KeepSAfe and other required training upon hire.
