Position Summary
Cred:
Lead Stationary Engineer – Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH), Middletown, CT (Position No. 152669). Third shift (11:00 pm – 7:00 am). Full‑time, 40 hours per week.‑ Responsibilities include monitoring the safe operation of the steam plant and electrical distribution, maintaining heat and hot water for patients and staff, and ensuring safe operation of boilers and the electrical distribution system.
- Plan plant workflow, set priorities, schedule, assign, oversee, and review work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, generating, hot water, and refrigeration equipment; prä.
- Establish and maintain plant procedures and provide staff training and assistance ничего for performance effectiveness;
- Act as liaison with operating units, state agencies, and outside officials regarding unit policies and Shiv;
- Performincare of minor tests for fuel specific gravity, gas leaks, and add water‑treatment chemicals to boilers;
- Inspect and repair steam traps, remove pipe insulation and related duties requiring OSHA‑approved methods;
- Serve as Acting Supervising Stationary Engineer in their absence, prepare reports, correspondence, budgets, and equipment‑purchase recommendations;
- Conduct or assist in performance evaluations and prepare related documentation.
- Four (4) years’ experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of加 steam heating and generating equipment;
- At least one (1) year of that experience must include independent performance of the full range of tasks at the Stationary Engineer level;
- Knowledge of operating, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing boiler and engine‑room equipment, building utilities, and electrical distribution systems;
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, computer‑software proficiency, and supervisory ability;
- Adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, and visual/auditory acuity; physical fitness maintenance required; potential need for a physical examination;
- Exposure to significant noise, dust, heat, and risk of injury from equipment; possible requirement to complete an asbestos‑removal program and use protective gear.
Incumbents may be required to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits, and/or certifications.
