Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
Are you an I&C Engineer who has successfully led the integration of automated machinery from concept to commissioning? We are seeking a technical leader to join a pioneering nuclear technology organization that is the only company in the world currently applying fusion technology across multiple industries.
Based in a brand-new, recently launched facility in Janesville, WI
, you will play a critical role in developing systems for medical isotope production—creating essential ingredients for life-saving cancer therapeutics.
- Stability Meets Innovation: Work for a commercialized "deep-tech" company with established revenue streams, moving beyond pure R&D into tangible global impact.
- End-to-End Project Ownership: You won't just be maintaining existing lines; you will oversee the design, procurement, and installation of systems in a facility that is still expanding.
- Ditch the Road Warrior Life: This is a fully onsite position in Janesville or Fitchburg, WI, offering a stable home base with a relocation bonus available.
- Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $83,000–$135,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
As the I&C Engineer, you are the bridge between stakeholders and vendors. You aren't just a programmer; you are the technical architect who ensures our proprietary fusion-based processes are controlled safely and efficiently.
- System Design & Specification: Lead the interface between stakeholders and the I&C team. You will write technical specifications, determine machine functionality, and define I/O lists and instrumentation diagrams to communicate requirements to OEMs.
- Vendor & Project Management: Drive decisions on vendor requests and oversee the development of DCS, PLC, and DAQ systems by reviewing vendor deliverables.
- Hands-on Integration: Oversee the installation and commissioning phase, ensuring machines are built and running correctly. You will be responsible for instrument cable routing, conduit design, and loop diagrams.
- Continuous Improvement: In the future, you will modify PLCs/HMIs and troubleshoot alongside other engineers for future facility build-outs.
We need a "Start-to-Finish" engineer. Whether you come from an OEM, Integrator, or End-User environment, you must have experience taking new automated machinery from the design phase through to a live facility.
Required Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years in relevant I&C engineering roles.
- Technical Depth: You must be able to open a program and understand ladder logic/programming
. While you won't be designing code from scratch daily, you must be able to determine I/O requirements, read diagrams, and select sensors (temp probes, etc.). - Project History: Proven track record of integrating new automated machinery into a facility. Reprogramming or troubleshooting existing equipment alone will not be sufficient for this level of responsibility.
Skills:
- Experience with Allen Bradley hardware and SCADA HMI development.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety-related systems (NQA-1) or seismic qualification (EQ) testing.
- Knowledge of cable shielding and radiation tolerance.
