- Salary Range: $115,000 – $140,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
THE ROLE
The Logistics Procurement Manager – Road Transportation leads strategy, execution, and cost optimization across multiple modes of road transport, including LTL, FTL, flatbed, small parcel, pneumatic bulk tankers, end dump trucks, and side dump trucks. This role strengthens carrier relationships, develops procurement strategies, and implements cost-saving initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH- Develop and execute road transportation sourcing strategies.
- Lead carrier negotiations, securing competitive rates and contract terms.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities via benchmarking, lane analysis, and backhaul optimization.
- Oversee freight audit and payment systems for accuracy and accountability.
- Align transportation capacity with business demand alongside logistics operations and sales teams.
- Improve network efficiency through backhaul mapping, load consolidation, and carrier diversification.
- Shape road procurement strategy for the organization.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years equivalent experience
- Field of Study Preferred: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Required
Work Experience:
7+ years in road transportation management (LTL, FTL, flatbed, parcel, or specialized trucking) - Travel Requirements: 25%
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Experience with freight audit & payment systems, predictive analytics, and sustainability practices
- Advanced data analysis skills (Excel, Tableau, Power BI; Python/R a plus)
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, HOS, and hazmat compliance
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
