Responsibilities as an Autism Specialist Tutor:

As an Autism Specialist Tutor, you will provide tailored educational and developmental support, working in environments such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provisions.

• Deliver 1:1, autism-specific tutoring tailored to individual strengths and needs
• Plan and adapt sessions in line with EHCPs, support plans, and individual learning goals
• Build trusting relationships that support emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement
• Use structured, predictable, and flexible approaches to support learning and wellbeing
• Monitor progress and communicate effectively with families, schools, and professionals

Requirements as an Autism Specialist Tutor:

To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring experience supporting autistic children or young people in Middlesbrough or similar settings.

• Experience supporting autistic children or young people
• Understanding of the UK curriculum with the ability to adapt learning flexibly
• A patient, empathetic, and reliable approach with strong communication skills
• Confidence planning and delivering personalised, learner-centred sessions
• Ability to create calm, supportive, and sensory-aware learning environments
