Position: LEAD RADIATION THERAPIST

The Lead Radiation Therapist functions autonomously and independently in the day to day operations of the department. He/She makes recommendations to the Manager/Director regarding staffing and equipment resource needs when identified. The Lead Radiation Therapist is responsible and participates in staff interviewing, training, appraisals and and corerctive action. The primary duty is to ensure department quality and safe delivery of radiation as well as serving the patients in a courteous, timely and professional manner.

Collaborates with the manager and is responsible for participating in and using independent judgment in the hiring, supervising, training, performance management, and evaluation of staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education

Completion of an accredited Radiography Program, understanding of cross sectional anatomy, knowledge of computer concepts and programs used by each piece of equipment. Responsible for continuing education for self and other therapists.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of previous Radiation Therapy experience, with a proven skill for technical/clinical aspects of the discipline. Hospital setting preferred.

Able to operate the equipment in a knowledgeable and competent manner. Maintains safety rules and regulatory measures at all times. Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in stressful situations while interacting with hospital staff, physicians offices, physicians and patients in a professional and pleasant manner. Ability to handle pressure in a high tech, high volume workload with a rapid pace of work and constant attention to many details simultaneously without sacrificing patient care/quality.

Able to have rapid decision making skills in regards to patient care or technical situations especially regarding equipment malfunction during a procedure.

Required Licensure

AART, State of Ohio Licensure and Current CPR
