Oak Street North is an adult inpatient unit for those with bipolar and psychotic illness. Our team provides patient-centered care through therapeutic engagement, behavioral interventions and medication management, with a focus on symptom management and safety, ensuring a therapeutic environment to promote stabilization.
Job SummaryUnder direction of the Registered Nurse, the MHS provides direct patient care and participates in therapeutic milieu.

Responsibilities- Identifies and reports house cleaning problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
- Identifies and reports equipment problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
- Participates in the unit’s inventory system, reporting when supplies are low.
- Initiates activities that assist patients in maintaining a clean environment.
- Initiates activities that promote an organized, safe patient and staff environment.
- Assists patients in their activities of daily living.
- Identifies patient hygiene needs; initiates and implements interventions to meet these needs.
- Provides for patients’ nutritional needs according to unit procedure.
- Assists and reassures patients during tests, exams, and procedures.
- Escorts and supervises patients on and off ground, maintaining patient safety.
- Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
- Completes mandatory in-service requirements.
- Identifies areas of strengths and areas in need of professional development with supervisor.
- Maintains competency for treating age-specific patient populations.
- Seeks constructive feedback regarding work performance from peers and professional colleagues.
- Participates in critical incident de-briefing.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred
Experience
related experience 0-1 year preferred

- Ability to work well collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
- Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, other members of the Health Care Team, facility personnel, and families/supportive others.
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Successful completion of CPI training is required within 30 days of hire.
