School Automotive Teacher
Position Summary: We are currently seeking a dynamic and committed Automotive Teacher to join our team. As an Auto Mechanic Teacher, you'll instruct students in automotive repair and maintenance, demonstrating techniques, explaining automotive systems, and ensuring a safe learning environment, potentially in high schools, vocational colleges, or training centers. This individual will encourage and teach our students in Automotive Technology and demonstrate Automotive expertise in our fully equipped auto shop.
You need to be able to instruct students in the basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation, while accommodating the special needs of the individual students.
An additional aspect of the job involves working with a select number of students to complete all phases of a Factory 5 Cobra kit build project. This involves the acquisition of parts not included in the kit, tracking and accounting for all parts purchased and all finishing steps, such as overseeing the final paint job, details for completion and documentation required to gain registration for the vehicle with the DMV.
ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Training
- Teach students about vehicle repair, parts installation, and maintenance.
- Demonstrate basic and advanced techniques, including computer diagnostics and vital system repairs (engine, electrical, transmission).
- Provide hands‑on training in a fully equipped facility.
- Facilitate and effectively deliver course curriculum.
- Prepare students for entry into the automotive industry or further studies.
- Teach students about the importance of safety and compliance.
- Design and develop unique curricula for specialized fields, if applicable.
- Plan, develop, organize, and conduct a comprehensive automotive program.
- Support and motivate student growth, professionalism, and accountability.
- Evaluate and communicate student progress.
- Engage students through various activities like group projects, demonstrations, and real‑world examples.
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and materials.
- Manage the classroom budget.
- Ensure a safe and organized learning environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress.
- Collaborate with other school personnel.
- Coordinate with outside groups to obtain vehicles for demonstrations.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate students' individual educational and therapeutic needs.
BS preferred but not required, 3 years of equivalent automotive trade experience required.
License/Certification- MA Teaching License preferred but not required
- Current ASE Certifications Preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students facing various learning and emotional challenges.
- Passion for teaching and dedication to helping students succeed.
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended period of time and exhibit manual dexterity to use shop and carpentry tools.
Full‑time
Pay$58,000- $65,000 per hour
Expected Hours8 hour shift
ScheduleDay shift, Monday through Friday
Work LocationIn Person, Middleboro, MA 02346
