Head Junior Varsity Basketball Head Coach

Overview

Ashley Hall is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and passionate individual to lead our Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Basketball program. The JV Head Coach develops younger athletes, prepares them for potential advancement to the Varsity level, and fosters a love of the game. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in basketball fundamentals, demonstrate strong teaching and leadership abilities, and create a positive, growth‑oriented environment for student‑athletes.

• Leadership &
  
  Coaching:
  
  Provide mentorship, structure, and encouragement to JV student‑athletes, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Build a cohesive and motivated team culture that emphasizes learning, improvement, and respect both on and off the court.
• Athletic Development:
  Teach basketball fundamentals, ensuring players build a strong foundation in skills, strategies, and conditioning. Prepare athletes for potential advancement to the Varsity program by instilling discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.
• Practice & Game Preparation:
  Plan and conduct structured, purposeful practices that emphasize skill‑building and team concepts. Develop age‑appropriate game strategies while prioritizing player growth and confidence.
• Game Management:
  Lead the team during games with an emphasis on teaching moments and player development, making in‑game decisions that balance competition with opportunities for growth.
• Collaboration:
  
  Align program philosophies with the Head Varsity Coach, coordinate with assistant coaches, athletic staff, and school leadership to support consistent values.
• Community Engagement:
  Represent Ashley Hall positively with students, families, and the broader school community; encourage participation, support school spirit, and promote basketball within the community.
• Administrative Responsibilities:
  Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices and games, coordinating transportation, and ensuring equipment and facilities are cared for in a safe, organized manner.

Key Requirements

• 2–3 years coaching basketball at the middle school, high school, or club level; experience with developing athletes strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, skill progression, and team dynamics.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills with a demonstrated passion for teaching the game.
• Willingness to dedicate time to practices, games, and team activities, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the Varsity Head Coach, athletic department, and school community.

Additional Requirements

• Current or ability to obtain CPR certification upon hire.
• Completion of all required Ashley Hall and SCISA paperwork.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, reference checks, and medical requirements.

Time Commitment

• In Season – October to March, 5–7 days a week, 2–4 hours per day
• Off Season responsibilities – TBD but expected
