Summary

Responsible for the effective functioning of the Security Department on assigned shifts, including accurately and thoroughly investigating and reporting all security‑related incidents that occur on property. Coordinate training and maintain training records for First Responders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the supervision of Security Officers on assigned shift and in the daily operations of the Security Department.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels by training, evaluating, and coaching employees as needed.
  • Patrol the property on assigned shift, identifying potential security and/or safety hazards, and reporting them to the appropriate individual to ensure the safety and protection of guests, employees and the entire facility.
  • Act as a back‑up to Security Officers and First Responders on assigned shift, and assume their duties when necessary.
  • Prepare and request reports on incidents involving guests, employees and/or the facility.
  • Guard all transfers of monies and chips on the casino floor, as well as the physical transportation of chip fills and credits.
  • Interact with guests and employees in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ensure a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
  • Facilitate the flow of information throughout the property by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Hold accountability, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  • Act as a representative of the property, meeting with guests, employees and witnesses to investigate security‑related incidents.
  • Prepare clear, detailed reports of security incidents that take place on property.
  • Coordinate with the Surveillance Department on security‑related matters.
  • Work closely with Management to effectively resolve guest complaints.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the facilities, as well as special events on property, to advise guests and fellow employees whenever possible.
  • Coordinate training and maintain the records for refresher classes.
  • Review First Responders reports for accuracy and communicate any changes in policies or procedures.
  • Make suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, for improvements to policies, procedures, or the facility.

  • Creates an atmosphere of fun for all casino guests.
  • Encourages mutual respect, dignity and integrity with all employees by setting positive examples at all times.
  • Instills an atmosphere that encourages employees to share ideas, discuss concerns, and resolve conflicts.
  • Retains employees through involvement in employee training and development.
  • Explains why we do things in advance of doing them.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists in the direct supervision of all Security Officers and First Responders on assigned shift(s).

Qualification Requirements

Two (2) or more years of experience in security, law enforcement or a related field. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Some college preferred.

Special Qualifications

Excellent communication skills required. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word 2007 and Excel 2007. Excellent observation, interview, verbal, and writing skills required. Ability to pass a report writing assessment. Valid Indiana or Michigan issued Medical First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician License. Minimum of three (3) years in emergency medical service/first responder experience preferred. This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.
