Cook - Part-Time - 11am - 730pm - Starting Wage $17.50

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare, present, store, and dispatch all food products for the Dining Room, Bistro, marketing and catering events, and resident tray service. The position is part-time with weekend hours.

Pay range: $16.00/hr – $16.00/hr (base pay).

• Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to policies and procedures.
• Adhere to presentation standards.
• Prepare meals based on menus and nutritional programs.
• Maintain quality and safety of food, performing sanitary measures, sweeping floors, cleaning surfaces, and proper storage.
• Work at an efficient and consistent pace.
• Prepare meals on time.
• Serve each resident meals that meet dietary requirements.
• Prepare correct quantities to meet daily needs.
• Use kitchen equipment.
• Stay productive and anticipate future needs.
• Show flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts.
• Report accidents and incidents.
• Follow regulations for blood‑borne pathogens, infection control, hazardous materials, and fire safety.
• Order and receive food and supplies promptly.
• Assist with new employee training.
• Serve food in proper portion size and temperature.
• Report policy infractions.
• Arrive at scheduled time.
• Perform other related duties.

• Minimum 1 year cooking experience.
• Experience in the retirement home industry preferred.
• Knowledge of food, catering trends, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Understanding of serving methods, sanitation principles, and safe food handling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
• Effective communication skills.
• Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, e‑mail).
• Attention to detail.
