Quality Assurance Assistant Team Leader

Supervisor’s Title: Quality Assurance Team Leader

MWC is a state of the art cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select).

Job Summary

Works in conjunction with production, quality, environmental and engineering departments to monitor and report on compliance and deviations/opportunities within process control, food safety and quality programs. Furthermore, position will be responsible for assisting in special projects as it relates to development of various product lines.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to interpret data and track data so as to communicate results to relevant parties in an appropriately timely manner.
  • Report deviations/opportunities in process parameters and assist with action planning and correction and taking such changes as deemed appropriate.
  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to establish audit frequencies within process.
  • Assist with GMP and housekeeping audits of the facility.
  • Assist with documentation and corrective actions involving Quality Systems.
  • Assist with monitor ingredients, packaging and process suppliers to ensure they meet MWC QA standards.
  • Review various programs within master auditing schedule.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance manager to develop monitoring and evaluation programs necessary to process and process deviations/opportunities.
  • Perform environmental, swabbing and testing and establish a frequency based on historical data.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of MWC non-negotiable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)

Additional Functions
  • Implement quality control measures required for the production processes.
  • Task Sheets will be provided separately for each different task.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree preferred/or a minimum of three years practical experience in lab environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrable experience with laboratory techniques for the measurement of chemical components, microbiological parameters, and sensory attributes.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Practical experience in QA techniques, principles, and adherence to government regulations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
