About Ahimsa Safe Haven:
Nestled in the heart of Onsted, Michigan, Ahimsa Safe Haven is a compassionate sanctuary that provides a safe, nurturing environment for over 120 rescued animals. Each resident carries a unique tale of resilience and hope, and we are committed to ensuring their ongoing care and well-being. We are currently seeking dedicated Animal Caretakers to join our team, focusing on the care of our cat, pig, and bird residents.

Responsibilities
  • Daily feeding of cats, pigs, and birds, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Providing fresh water to all animal residents throughout the day.
  • Regular cleaning and maintenance of pig pens and bird coops/runs, ensuring a clean and healthy living environment.
  • Feed cats and provide them with fresh water.
  • Change cat litter.
  • Clean two buildings that house the cats daily (sanitizing bowls, sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning as needed, etc.).
  • Monitor cats’ health and safety.
  • Provide socialization to cats when needed.
  • Observe animal behavior and health, and report any concerns to the appropriate team member.
  • Assist with enrichment activities for the cats, pigs, and birds.
  • Participate in training and educational opportunities to enhance animal care skills.
  • Lift bags of food for the animals that can exceed 50 lbs.
Schedule
  • Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays
  • Mornings, Afternoons, and Evenings
  • Part-time (29 hours or less)

Both morning and afternoon shifts are available.

Pay Rate

$15/hour

Qualifications
  • A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Experience working with cats, pigs, birds, or other kinds of animals.
  • A basic understanding of animal behavior and nutrition.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform the necessary tasks.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
