Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Optalis of Three Rivers, 517 Erie Street S, Three Rivers, MI 49093
Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a key leadership role in supporting the Director of Nursing (DON) and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centered care within our skilled nursing facility. This position helps oversee clinical operations, regulatory compliance, staff development, and resident outcomes. The ADON contributes to a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability while promoting the highest standards of clinical practice.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Clinical Leadership
- Support the DON in planning, organizing, and directing all nursing services in alignment with federal, state, and facility standards.
- Participate in resident assessments, care planning, and interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure accurate, individualized care.
- Provide clinical guidance to nursing staff and assist with complex resident care situations.
- Monitor clinical practices to ensure consistency, safety, and adherence to evidence‑based standards.
- Staff Development & Supervision
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
- Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure effective scheduling across all shifts.
- Promote a professional, supportive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching and corrective action when necessary to maintain high performance and compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Support survey readiness and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including infection control, documentation standards, and resident rights.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and help implement corrective action plans.
- Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Operational Support
- Assist in developing and updating nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Serve as acting DON in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and operations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and external partners to support positive relationships and resident satisfaction.
- Help identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, clinical outcomes, and staff engagement.
- Current RN license in good standing.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in skilled nursing or long‑term care.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal long‑term care regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and support a diverse clinical team.
