Responsibilities- Manage care delivery for patients throughout the length of stay, including assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation; coordinate care with other professionals and delegate tasks.
- Provide selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice; document and communicate patient responses during each tour of duty.
- Lead various patient‑care duties such as operating room support, preparing surgical supplies, and maintaining equipment; observe changes in patient condition and take appropriate action.
- Assist with discharge planning and support the continuum of care.
- Perform scrub duties across multiple services, including neuro, ortho, and spinal fusion services; attend after‑hour calls on a rotational basis.
- Complete swing‑bed documentation as required for the Workday CBL “Swing beds.”
- Adhere to the Michigan Public Health Code, organization policies, and procedures.
- Engage in quality improvement, professional development, and peer review activities.
- Meet competency requirements specific to the population served.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; must be obtained within 8 years of hire.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing in Michigan.
- BSN requirement enforcement: if not achieved within 8 years of hire, employment terminated.
- BLS certification required; critical care or ALS certifications may be required for some units.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems and medical equipment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and work with computers or CRT for up to 70% of shift.
