Job Summary

Registered Nurse RN at My Michigan Health. Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, manage treatment plans, lead a multidisciplinary team, delegate and supervise support staff, ensure compliance with regulations, and engage in patient and family education.

Responsibilities
  • (40%) Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed.
  • (30%) Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, education, call lights, transfers, alarms, and other duties as appropriate.
  • (20%) Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan and collaborate in updating and revising the plan.
  • (10%) Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as hospital policies and procedures.

  • Interpret information and report data to physicians.
  • Educate patients and families according to assessed learning needs.
  • Organize and prioritize the needs of groups of patients or individual patients.
  • Manage assignments and perform routine duties on the unit. Instruct other team members when appropriate.
  • Understand and utilize clinical pathways appropriately.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Document accurately, clearly, and concisely. Report significant changes or abnormal findings to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with orientation and ongoing competencies.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and professional standards within a specialty.
  • Understand the role in emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Assist with central line, chest tube insertion, and care according to policy and procedure. Insert cantor tubes, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes per physician order. Insert and care for IVs. Provide routine care and instruction of SP catheters and surgical drains. Remove sutures and skin clips; provide routine ostomy care and wound irrigation and packing.
  • Perform accurate CVP reading and set up
