Position Title
Registered Nurse – SWAT Team
Employment Details- Employment Type: Full time
- Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift
- Location: Chelsea, MI
- Pay: $ per hour based upon licensed nursing experience + applicable shift premiums (afternoons, overnights and weekends)

The SWAT RN demonstrates expert proficiency in working with complex patients within the appropriate unit's scope of practice and serves as a resource and leader to promote patient safety by relocating the patient to the appropriate location when necessary. The Swat RN has a role in mentoring and supporting newer staff and facilitating communication, assisting in the advancement of Nursing and organizational initiatives, protocols, and quality improvement.
He/she serves as a role model for expert, contemporary, evidence based nursing practice, promoting ANA standards of care, Just Culture, and Relationship Based Care.
- Graduation from accredited nursing program & Current Michigan RN license
- Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
- Minimum of three years acute care experience. Two years related practice experience in Intensive Care clinical area or Emergency Department required.
- Current BLS & ACLS
- Canadian Nurses are encouraged to apply
- Leads, facilitates, and addresses day-to-day operational issues and communication between nursing and other departments.
- Coordinates response to urgent/emergent situations including summoning of multidisciplinary team members such as:
Respiratory therapy, Physicians and/or APPs, Other disciplines that may be necessary, as described in the relevant hospital protocol. - Participates as a Code Blue Team coordinator when needed.
- Collaborates between the ER, critical care physician team, primary physician team, patient care unit and neurology to provide excellent and efficient care to the acute stroke population.
- Participates in planning, coordination, and monitoring of patient transportation in the acute and critically ill population to interventional and diagnostic areas outside the units utilizing patient handoff among nursing staff members.
- Proactively rounds on the inpatient units (focus on identification, assessment, and intervention for high-risk patients), discussing patient population with charge RN.
- Assists with diagnostic imaging procedures requiring an RN (Bubble studies, MRI for pacemaker patient) when Diagnostic Imaging RNs are not available.
- Mentors new staff in: chart review, protocols, communication with multidisciplinary team to prevent and identify deterioration in patients.
- Coaches, mentors, and supports colleagues to be effective patient advocates. Supports staff in problem solving and utilizing effective communication strategies to collaborate with other disciplines.
- Responds to family requests for individual case reviews utilizing appropriate resources and disciplines. Promotes environment that supports remarkable patient care experience. Role models clinical excellence. Anticipates and addresses patient/family/visitor concerns in collaboration with caregiver, physician, and unit charge RN.
