Manufacturing Production, Machine Operator
This position is part of the Operations Department. After training, each team member will possess the ability to run each grinder in the department, producing as many quality parts as possible, while striving for maximum quality and production at all times. Team member will also be able to make minor adjustments to the grinder as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONSQualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Mechanical experience preferred. Possess knowledge of blueprints, gaging and equipment specific to the job.
DUTIESMust be capable of running each grinder in the department, producing quality parts to rate standards. Duties include but are not limited to setting size of grinder, dressing grind and feed wheel, adjusting taper, proper use of measuring devices as well as clean up procedures. Works diligently to reduce the probability of part damage. Supply raw stock for machine being run and put finished production in proper storage area.
Communicate with managers, supervisors, shift leaders, set up personnel and other machine operators regarding the general operation of the machine. Observe blueprints for all dimensions and requirements to assure maximum quality and production. Inspect parts visually and with measuring devices to assure quality per blueprint specifications. Must maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment, and other assignments as needed.
CONDITIONS
Employee will be exposed to the noise, fumes and temperature extremes typically found in a light manufacturing environment. Risk of injury from being in close proximity of operating machinery is possible, but unlikely if proper safety precautions are followed.
Lifting requirements for this position dictate that the employee must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40# on a repetitive basis and a maximum of 80# on an occasional basis.
All employees must wear PPE which includes hearing protection and safety glasses, both of which are provided by RIMA, and slip resistant shoes which the employee provides. RIMA has a prescription safety glass program and safety shoe reimbursement program that is available to employees after 90 days of employment.
