Our client, a respected manufacturing operation in the Belding, MI area, is seeking an experienced Onboarding & Training Specialist to lead hands‑on training initiatives across their production environment. This role is ideal for someone who believes effective training starts on the floor, not just in a classroom.
You’ll play a critical role in guiding new hires through structured onboarding, supporting retraining efforts, auditing performance, and improving work instructions. This position blends active production floor engagement with structured administrative tracking, making it a strong fit for someone who enjoys both people development and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate structured onboarding for all new hires
- Be present on employees’ first day to ensure a smooth and organized start
- Work alongside new hires on the production floor to provide hands‑on training and reinforcement
- Support retraining efforts and performance improvement initiatives
- Audit employee performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
- Create, update, and refine work instructions as processes evolve
- Complete and manage 30‑day new hire training documentation
- Track training progress, compliance records, and performance metrics
- Maintain accurate documentation using Excel and Microsoft Office tools
- Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to align training with operational goals
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the plant
- 2+ years of experience in a training, onboarding or similar HR related role within a manufacturing environment OR 2+ years in a hands‑on Team Leader role training employees on a plant floor.
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or coaching employees
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable balancing hands‑on floor work with administrative responsibilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and hold employees accountable
