Location: South Haven

Join to apply for the 2nd Shift Lead role at Shurco

Manage the safety, quality, production, and training of employees within the tarp fabrication area. As a working lead, you will become familiar with each process and eventually be able to train other employees in the safe execution of each job process.

Shift: 3pm-11pm

Responsibilities
  • Ensure employees are properly trained in Safety for their position.
  • Train new employees.
  • Supervise team performance and productivity; support individual training and development.
  • Work in assigned areas to support the needs of the shift and/or department to ensure quality production and on-time order fulfillment.
  • Encourage teamwork and communication among all Shurco operations.
  • Train, oversee and coach employees, helping to resolve work-related problems and informing the manager as needed.
  • Review work throughout the process and at completion to ensure proper performance.
  • Identify and resolve production and inventory challenges; work with other leaders to resolve issues.
  • Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
  • Operate a forklift, as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to motivate and guide others to ensure performance in accordance with clear expectations and goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic and pay attention to details.
  • Ability to lead and support quality, safety, and policy standards.
Education and/Or Experience

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read English, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates/licenses

Must have a current driver's license and pass a forklift certification test; ability to operate a forklift.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate, reach, talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level usually moderate.
