PURPOSE AND SCOPEThis position is responsible for laying out fabrications, tacking weldments together, and welding components to customer supplied specifications with the highest level of quality. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, while working with supervisors/leadership to make suggestions for improvement to products and processes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Utilizes blueprints to fit and weld metal components.
- Selects equipment and plans, layout, assembly, and welding.
- Ensures Quality Auditor is called in to verify work.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Set up and adjust GMAW equipment to perform quality welds.
- Use plasma, and/or oxyfuel cutting torches.
- Use hand power tools such as grinders, belt sanders, and die grinders.
- Is proficient using fabrication measurement tools (squares, tape measures, levels, magnets).
- Utilizes QC packets to determine build quantity.
- Repair, disassemble, assemble, straighten, sharpen, and reshape products.
- Operates forklifts, hoists, and cranes.
- Responsible for executing and supporting the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement.
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposedüs to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
