Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the slicing, stuffing, packaging and boxing of sausage products manually or by mechanical means to produce both work in process and finished goods products. This job may include the loading, unloading of materials, packaging and finished goods products from racks or pallets.

Accountabilities
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including the wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as prescribed for each work activity or job.
  • Adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), package, stuff or slice raw materials to designated weights on an individual package or case weight basis.
  • Meet production performance requirements in a fast paced work environment.
  • Transfer finished products and raw materials to identified location in the plant/warehouse or on production line.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to the position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to communicate production issues, counts and weights to supervision or lead personnel.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Knowledge of GMP and safe food manufacturing practices a plus.

    Education/Experience

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (preferred).
    • Fork Lift/Pallet Jack Certification a plus.

    Physical requirements:

    The employee must regularly stand for 10 or more hours per day and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work environment:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.
