Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and dependable Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Bloomfield Hills. This part-time position is perfect for someone seeking flexible hours, such as retirees or individuals looking to supplement their income. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for various tasks related to building maintenance, cleaning, and grounds upkeep to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Upkeep
- Perform regular cleaning of common areas, restrooms, and building entrances.
- Conduct additional larger cleaning projects as needed.
- Manage outdoor furniture and assist with seasonal adjustments.
- Conduct daily building inspections to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks including:
- Changing light bulbs.
- Adjusting suite/building temperatures.
- Light painting and repairs.
- Checking the boiler and air handler systems.
- Managing garage door mechanics.
- Replace batteries in toilets and urinals.
- Maintain grounds by applying salt on walkways as needed and clearing salt after melting.
- Conduct light snow removal from walks during winter months.
- Oversee and maintain irrigation controls and heads.
- Assist contractors during their visits to the site, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Verify that work has been completed satisfactorily and ensure that packing slips match orders.
- Assist in vehicle maintenance, ensuring all registrations and insurance are current.
- Start and prepare vehicles for use.
- Take out trash to the curb before 9:00 AM and manage deliveries as needed.
- Run a scrubber over the garage floor regularly.
- Act as the eyes and ears of the building, notifying the Maintenance and Asset Visual Development team of any issues or areas requiring attention.
- Distribute and put away supplies and materials as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in maintenance, custodial work, or a related field is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of building systems and repairs is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Non Smoker
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Capability to perform physical tasks, including bending, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
