Job SummaryOperations Technician provides advanced, in-depth technical support for complex issues escalated from Tier 1 Service Desk. Key responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting and diagnosing common workstation issues, hardware/software bugs, administering Active Directory user accounts and permissions, and resolving user issues via remote tools or deskside support in a Windows environment.
What you’ll do:- Complex Troubleshooting resolving issues that Tier 1 cannot fix, including OS failures, application bugs, and complex network connectivity issues (VPN, DNS).
- Managing user accounts in Active Directory including account creation and termination, password resets, permissions and security groups.
- Hardware/Software Support troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and repairing desktop operating systems, printers, and software applications.
- Remediation of workstation vulnerabilities with third party applications and Windows operating systems.
- Ticketing & Documentation of all technical troubleshooting steps and resolutions thoroughly in Service Now ticketing system and maintaining knowledge base.
- Escalation Point serving as the second line of support, escalating to Tier 3 (engineers) or other SME’s as necessary.
- Strong technical Knowledge and understanding of Windows
11, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP), Active Directory, and remote support tools. - Strong customer communication, analytical thinking, and a customer-service oriented mindset.
- Be a team player who can work well within the team and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Provide cross-training to others when required or as needed.
- Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures or designs new solutions.
- Obtains assistance with, or escalates, complex problems to more senior IT System Administrators for resolution.
- Implement enhancements, updates, software installation and system configuration to ensure equipment is functioning properly for AEP users.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- In addition to any experience required above, 8 years' technical or relevant work experience is required.
Must exhibit a positive, collaborative attitude working in a team environment.
Must be accountable for one's own work and advancement. All above activities will be performed with an emphasis on safety for yourself and others.
Adapt to changing work schedules and priorities.
Performs the logistics role with a high priority on safety & in support of AEP's Zero Harm goal.
