Main responsibilities:We are seeking a strategic, customer-obsessed, and data-savvy Principal Product Manager to lead the evolution and scaling of Albertsons’ In-Store Media platform. This high-impact role sits at the convergence of physical retail, digital engagement, and Retail Media monetization, focusing on enhancing the in-store customer journey while unlocking new revenue streams through retail media innovation.
You will lead the roadmap for technologies such as digital signage, smart displays, in-store audio, interactive kiosks, shelf-edge displays, and more. You'll work cross-functionally with Ad Sales, Store Operations, Engineering, Data Science, AdTech, Martech, and external partners to deliver seamless and personalized shopper experiences that also drive advertiser value and store execution efficiency.
The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA.
- Define and evolve the product vision and multi-team strategy for In-Store Media.
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and business case development through to pilots and scaled rollouts.
- Use data, user research, and future trend analysis to identify opportunities and prioritize efforts with clear tradeoff frameworks.
- Drive a robust measurement strategy, partnering with analytics and data science to implement attribution models, experimentation frameworks (A/B, geo tests), and instrumentation plans that enable precise measurement of campaign impact and shopper behavior
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Ad Sales, Merchandising, Marketing, Engineering, Store Ops) to align execution plans.
- Translate business and customer needs into concise, outcome-driven PRDs and user stories.
- Champion best-in-class in-store experiences, leading UX discussions with Design and driving alignment in exec reviews.
- Integrate AdTech and Martech capabilities for programmatic, measurable, and privacy-compliant in-store media.
- Partner with hardware/CMS vendors and IoT teams to ensure scalable, integrated solutions.
- Develop and track key KPIs (ad performance, engagement, customer satisfaction), iterating based on insights.
- Lead pre-mortems, create backup plans, and adjust strategies based on real-time constraints or unexpected changes.
- Own strategic communication, articulating what not to pursue alongside what to prioritize.
- Proactively extend influence beyond direct product domain, connecting strategic threads across the broader org.
- 7 or more years of experience in product management, with at least two or more years in in-store media, retail technology, or AdTech.
- Proven experience delivering customer-facing or advertiser-facing solutions in omnichannel retail environments.
- Strong understanding of store operations, shopper behavior, and how digital experiences can enhance physical retail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working with hardware and software teams; knowledge of digital signage platforms, IoT devices, and content scheduling systems is a plus.
- Proficient in tools like JIRA, Confluence, Figma, and product analytics platforms.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or technical background preferred.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation Pay or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays, bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus.
