Overview

This is a seasonal role on Mackinac Island, beginning in early April and continuing through October. Housing and meals in our onsite cafeteria are available at $19.50/day.

Are you passionate about working with horses and providing exceptional guest experiences? Join the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island as a Stable Teamster. You will play a vital role in ensuring guests enjoy unforgettable equestrian adventures while upholding the hotel’s tradition of hospitality and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely guide guests on scenic horseback rides, creating memorable moments in the Mackinac Island setting.
  • Assist with the daily care of horses, including grooming, feeding, health checks, and general well-being.
  • Provide friendly and informative narration during rides, sharing the island’s history and natural beauty.
  • Maintain clean and organized stables and equipment, upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Collaborate with the equestrian team to coordinate rides and activities, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Uphold Grand Hotel’s commitment to exceptional guest service, exceeding expectations at every opportunity.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of guests, colleagues, and horses.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, fostering camaraderie and shared success.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with horses, including handling, riding, and care.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and entertain guests.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to work outdoors and lift heavy objects.
  • Reliable and team-oriented attitude, ready to contribute to a collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
