Work Schedule and Shift Premiums

Full Time | 40 hours/week including some weekend hours on a rotation | 8am - 4:30pm except on Tuesdays, 8am - 6pm.

• Saturday premium is an additional $2.00/hour

• High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution
• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred but not required. ASCP certification desirable
• Previous phlebotomy experience in healthcare setting preferred but not required
• BLS certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

• Uses appropriate techniques and procedures to obtain blood samples by venipuncture and skin puncture. Instruct patients on proper collection procedures for urine collection, stool collection, and other miscellaneous collections
• Correctly labels all specimens and checks for quality
• Assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients
• Maintains laboratory operating procedures
• Orders and distributes supplies as needed along with notifying appropriate individual when supplies are low
• Specimens that are not picked up by a Hillsdale Hospital Courier will need to be transported to Hillsdale Hospital at the end of their shift. Phlebotomists will be reimbursed for mileage if this transport is needed
• Also performs receptionist duties at the front desk of the outpatient lab
