What You’ll Do in This Role:

Join our compassionate team at PACE of Southwest Michigan as a Recreational Therapy Aide and help bring joy, creativity, and connection to the lives of our participants! You’ll assist in planning and leading a variety of fun, engaging, and therapeutic activities that promote wellness, independence, and a sense of community for older adults. Every day offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working alongside a supportive and dedicated team.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the implementation of therapeutic activity programs to include group or individual recreational and social activities.
  • Provides input into program plans.
  • Assists in developing a monthly calendar of events for participants.
  • Maintains general order in the activities area, including daily clean up, routine supply inventory, and ordering for the recreation department.
  • Plans and implements activities for dementia specific participants.
  • Builds a sense of community and a warm social atmosphere in the Day Center in which participants can identify a support system.
  • Completes progress reports and assessments.
  • Communicates with facilities to assess participant activity and involvement.
  • Attends IDT morning meeting, care planning, team huddles, and care conferences as needed.
  • Assist with transporting and escorting participants to and from activities in the Day Center.
  • Completes SBAR form for any clinical participant concerns when in the Day Center.
  • Provide reception desk coverage as needed.
  • Assist with lunch (passing trays, serving drinks) as needed.
  • Document in behavior logs as needed.
What You’ll Need:
  • Minimum of one-year experience working with frail and elderly, required.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
