Job Description
We are seeking a highly-skilled caregiver with specialized experience in neurological care, particularly expressive aphasia, to assist an individual with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will have a compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor, with the ability to manage challenging behaviors associated with the client’s medical conditions. We are currently looking to staff weekends and evening care only.
Key Responsibilities- Personal Care Assistance:
Help with basic ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.) and IADLs (meal prep, medication reminders, errand running, light housekeeping, etc.). - Mobility Assistance:
The client is ambulatory but a fall risk, so you will need to provide assistance in preventing falls and ensuring safety. - Transfer and Lifting:
Must be able to assist in lifting and transferring a male client over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds. Physical strength and comfort with lifting and moving the client are essential. - Behavioral Support:
Work with the client in managing frustration and behavioral challenges, applying knowledge of expressive aphasia and neurological conditions. - Errands and Transportation:
Must be a reliable driver with the ability to run errands and transport the client to appointments and activities. Must also be comfortable traveling with the client across the country on private jet outings. - Medications:
Remind and assist the client with medication management to ensure timely adherence. - Wine Pouring:
Assist with pouring wine during designated times as per client preferences.
- Experience:
At least 2-3 years of experience in caregiving, specifically with clients who have expressive aphasia or other neurological conditions. - Skills:
Strong understanding of neurocognitive disorders, especially related to aphasia. - Patience and ability to handle challenging behaviors and high levels of frustration.
- Comfortable assisting with both ADLs and IADLs.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist a male client who is over 6 feet tall and 200+ pounds.
- Physical Requirements:
Must be able to assist with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention. Physical strength to safely lift and move the client as needed is required. - Driving:
Must have a clean driving record and be willing to drive the client as needed. A valid driver’s license is required. - Travel:
Ability to travel with the client on private jet outings across the country. - Personality:
Friendly, professional, and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to build a trusting, positive relationship with the client.
- Must be comfortable with potential frustration and behavioral challenges due to the client’s condition.
- Previous experience with high-net-worth individuals or private care settings is a plus.
- Must be respectful, discreet, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
