The Ruth Ellis Center is a health center in the Henry Ford Pediatrics
- School-Base and Community Health Department. It is a school-based linked site. The Ruth Ellis School-Based site offers primary and behavioral healthcare to the pediatric population 3-21 years old including services for the LGBTQ youth community.
Hours of operation: Monday/Wednesday 8:00am–8:30pm;
Tuesday/Thursday 8:30am–5:30pm;
Friday 8:00am–4:30pm.
Seeking a Medical Assistant with strong clinical skills who can work independently and autonomously. Front desk experience is a bonus, with the ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Experience in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and the Emergency Room is preferred. Seeking experienced Medical Assistants.
General SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to support quality and compassionate care provided to patients.
Responsibilities- Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.
- Obtaining medical histories.
- Measuring and recording vital signs.
- Preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
- Assisting the provider during examinations or procedures.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve; effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
- EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
- Professionally recognized Medical Assistant certifications from: AAMA/CMA, AMT (RMA), NHA CCMA, or NCMA preferred.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hours minimum), OR graduate from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years, OR current Professional Medical Assistant certification with at least five years of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
OR Licensed Paramedic/EMT with at least one year of clinical experience in the past five years. OR military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in the past five years.
- Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
