ACCESS CENTER CLINICIAN / OUTPATIENT THERAPIST
Full Time – Newaygo County Mental Health
Newaygo County Mental Health is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled clinician to join our team as a Full‑Time Access Center Clinician/Outpatient Therapist. This combined role provides a dynamic mix of Access Center responsibilities and a small outpatient therapy caseload, serving both youth and adults.
About the RoleThis position splits time between:
Access Center Clinician Duties- Conduct mental health, co‑occurring disorder, and substance use evaluations and screenings
- Provide telephone and walk‑in crisis intervention, triage, and referral services
- Complete service authorizations and length‑of‑stay reviews for inpatient or crisis residential placements
- Perform assessments in the local hospital emergency department during business hours as needed
- Complete urgent intake assessments to support timely access to care
- Maintain a small caseload providing assessments and psychotherapy
- Deliver individual and group therapy to youth and adults
- Utilize evidence‑based, trauma‑informed practices
- Provide coverage for the Access Center and conduct urgent intake assessments when required
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and screenings
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services
- Determine level of care and authorize services
- Complete utilization reviews for inpatient and crisis residential placements
Collaborate with hospitals, community partners, and internal teams to ensure coordinated care - Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards
- Deliver therapy services using evidence‑based approaches
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
- Master’s degree (MA, MSW) with Michigan licensure: LMFT, LLPC, LPC, LLP, LLMSW, or LMSW
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed care and evidence‑based treatment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation
- Experience with youth, co‑occurring disorders, or group therapy preferred
- CAADC certification or willingness to pursue certification is preferred but not required
- Energetic, resourceful, and compassionate
- Strong organizational abilities and comfort managing multiple priorities
- Professional, positive, and supportive presence
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
$59,469 – $77,182, based on licensure and experience.
