Job Details- Job Title: Certified Nurse Aide

- Position Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant provides quality nursing care to residents, coordinates work within and across departments, and supports department operations.
- Shift
Schedule:- FT - PT 2pm-10pm
- PT 10pm-6am
- Provides quality nursing care to residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality.
- Provides individualized attention to encourage each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
- Knows each resident’s individualized care plan and provides support accordingly; contributes to care planning by providing charge nurse or other staff with specific observations.
- Attends to individual resident needs, including grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, and communication as per care plan.
- Maintains comfort, privacy, and dignity; interacts with residents warmly; tidies rooms and changes bed linens as necessary.
- Understands residents’ rights; promptly reports incidents of abuse or violations to charge nurse or administrator.
- Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; reports deficiencies to the Environment Plant Manager.
- Protects residents’ personal belongings and reports missing items per policy.
- Observes residents for changes in condition or behavior and reports promptly to Charge Nurse.
- Ensures skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears, and other damage by changing incontinent residents, turning, repositioning immobile residents, and applying moisturizers to fragile skin.
- Answers residents’ call lights promptly and courteously.
- Performs tasks assigned by charge nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens.
- Assists with orienting residents and their families upon admission and during transfers.
- Lifts, moves, and transports residents using proper body mechanics or lifting devices; uses wheelchairs, slide boards, walkers, and canes as required.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Assists and escorts residents for appointments and participates in activities and functions as directed.
- Completes documentation of care in PCC per department policies.
- Performs all responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control procedures, including hand washing, use of disposable gloves, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
- Attends staff meetings and in‑services as requested.
- Answers incoming calls when necessary and directs calls appropriately.
- Performs other tasks as required.
- Must possess a current Michigan Certified Nurse Aide Certification or have completed a Michigan‑approved CNA training program and be eligible to test. Certification must be obtained within 4 months of hire.
- One year of experience in long‑term care, hospice, or health care desired.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
- Ability to verbally communicate with residents, staff, and visitors.
Special Requirements
- Tolerate frequent exposure to blood, body tissues, fluids, hazardous materials, infectious diseases, chemicals, latex, and plastics used for personal protective equipment.
- Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.
