The Controls Engineer is responsible for the execution and development of manufacturing controls. This position requires a high level of creativity, initiative, and independent judgment within a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity.
Responsibilities- Implement and execute projects, including SOR preparation, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off, and buyoff.
- Design, construct, integrate, install in the plant, successfully launch, and continuously improve manufacturing controls.
- Stay informed about new controls technologies (PLC, HMI, networks, robots, vision) necessary for producing high-quality parts.
- Manage deliveries to meet program timing milestones.
- Provide project reports to upper management.
- Support existing programs and sites through troubleshooting and other activities.
- Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.
- Design and troubleshoot electrical controls systems.
- Develop and test advanced process technology.
- Focus on hardware and software controls engineering design for small automated cells within the manufacturing plant.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, schematics, and hardware design - specifically Logix
5000 and ePlan. - Knowledge of controls standards.
- Experience in troubleshooting and controls engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of PLC work experience as a Controls Engineer.
- Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley systems.
- Mechatronics degree or training is beneficial.
This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis in a plant floor assembly setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Lake Orion, MI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
