The Supervisor of Nondestructive Testing (NDT) and Airflow will oversee inspection, testing, and airflow analysis operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance in aerospace manufacturing. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, ensuring that all testing processes meet regulatory requirements and support production efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise daily operations of NDT and airflow testing teams, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching to technicians.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Technical Execution
- Oversee NDT methods (radiographic, dye penetrant, chemical etch).
- Manage airflow testing procedures for components and assemblies to validate aerodynamic performance.
- Review and approve test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Quality & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with NADCAP and AS9100 standards.
- Develop and enforce quality control procedures for inspections and airflow testing.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to optimize testing processes and reduce cycle times.
- Implement new technologies and methodologies in NDT and airflow analysis.
- Train staff on updated procedures and industry best practices.
- Experience with composite materials and advanced aerospace structures.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS 9100, and related certifications.
- On‑site at aerospace manufacturing facility in Harbor Springs, MI.
- Hands‑on involvement in testing labs and production areas.
- Occasional travel for supplier audits or training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace NDT and/or airflow testing.
- Certified Level I or II in one or more NDT methods (or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire).
- Strong knowledge of airflow testing equipment, instrumentation, and data analysis.
- Proven supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
