Vibracoustic, part of the Freudenberg Group, is a leading global automotive supplier dedicated to reducing noise and vibration in vehicles. We are looking for a proactive and entrepreneurial team player to join our team in South Haven, MI.
Location: 400 Aylworth Avenue, South Haven, MI 49090 •
Hybrid work: First six months full‑time onsite, then up to two days per week remote. International and domestic travel of 50%–70% of the time is required. No relocation package is offered.
As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will work closely with Commodity Managers and plant teams to enhance the supplier base across North America, drive quality and performance improvements, and support innovation initiatives.
Responsibilities- Work closely with Commodity Managers to improve, manage, and develop the current supplier base in the Americas while supporting Vibracoustic's overall company performance goals.
- Assess and develop new suppliers; monitor supplier performance for the entire NA supply base.
- Maintain, assess, and improve the existing supplier base.
- Assist plants with major quality concerns, problem‑solving methods, and global corrective actions.
- Provide technical assistance in project phases prior to Supplier Preparation Meetings.
- Provide product and process expertise during Supplier Preparation Meetings.
- Support Resourcing and Supplier VA/VE activities.
- Support supplier business review meetings.
- Support development activities focused on innovation with SDE specific commodities.
- Travel internationally and domestically between 50% and 70% of the time.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Supplier Development Engineer or in a related occupation.
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
- Experience with quality standards such as IATF 16949/VDA and core quality tools.
- Experience with high‑pressure die casting (HPDC), stampings, technical audits, and CQI requirements.
- Experience with FMEA, APQP, MSA, and SPC.
- Proficiency with Live Source, SAC, SAP, AutoCAD, and Solid Works.
- Experience with Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) and Minitab software.
- Experience with rubber bonding adhesive materials and processes such as roll coating and chain‑on‑edge.
- International and domestic travel of 50%–70% required.
