Application Specialist

Description In this role, the Application Specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise and application support for gas-fired equipment, including boilers, water heaters, and related combustion systems. You will work closely with engineering, sales, and customers to ensure optimal system design, installation, and operation.

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for gas-fired systems and combustion technologies.
• Support sales and engineering teams with system design, equipment selection, and sizing.
• Provide costing and quotation with calculations for thermal design applications with all necessary backhand documents.
• Enter and quote sales specials and custom package products.
• Review IDFs and POs to approve and move to order entry team.
• Provide pre- and post-sale technical support to reps, customers, and contractors.
• Assist in troubleshooting and diagnostics for field-installed systems.
• Develop and deliver technical training, documentation, and presentations.
• Stay current on codes, standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, NFPA), and industry trends.
• Support product development teams with market input and application feedback.
• Collaborate with marketing on product positioning and technical materials.
• Willingness to learn or train in the position.
• Must have the physical and mental stamina to stand, walk, lift, and adjust to the noise and lighting of the manufacturing environment.
• Other duties as assigned and not limited to just the above.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–7 years of experience working with gas-fired equipment (boilers, burners, water heaters, etc.).
• Strong understanding of combustion principles, venting, gas trains, and control systems.
• Familiarity with institutional or industrial mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication skills—able to explain technical topics clearly to various audiences.
• Proficiency in CAD, heat load calculations, or energy modeling software is a plus.

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
