POSITION:
Secondary Special Education Teacher, Emotionally Impaired (EI) Located at Pineview Homes, Evart MI
Duration: (Full-Time modified year-round schedule)

DESCRIPTION:

The Residential Teacher provides instruction and behavioral support to secondary students with emotional and behavioral challenges within a 24-hour residential treatment setting for at-risk youth during the regular school day. The teacher delivers trauma-informed, individualized instruction while collaborating closely with residential staff, mental health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Michigan teacher's certificate in secondary education.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree; special education teacher preferred with the ability to teach a core subject.
Preference will be given to those with previous experience working with students with emotional impairments and demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies, behavior management techniques, and positive behavior support models.
Must pass a criminal history background investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Applicants must possess a valid Michigan driver's license

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned) :

Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations to support students with varying learning styles, abilities, and needs. Utilize evidence-based strategies, instructional materials, and technology to engage students and promote active learning.
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to meet the unique academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Collaborate with caregivers, multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and residential staff to coordinate services, share information, and develop effective support plans for students.

• Assume responsibility for keeping informed of current developments in own field and the related field of education and maintain readiness to adapt to change.

• Collect, analyze, and maintain data on student progress, behavior, and intervention outcomes. Use assessment data to evaluate student growth, adjust instructional strategies, and make data-driven decisions to support student success.
Provide direction to the para educator(s) assigned to the classroom.
Display patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Teach and model social-emotional skills, self-regulation strategies, and conflict resolution techniques tohelp students develop positive relationships, communication skills, and self-awareness. Facilitate socialskills groups and peer interactions.
Maintain a cooperative, harmonious relationship with professionals and others within the work setting.
Organize time, energy, and workload in order to meet responsibilities and complete assignments withdue consideration of priorities among various responsibilities.
Assume responsibility to transport self to assigned worksite(s) and maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other related duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Services or designee.

COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with credentials and level of experience - based on current MOISD-EA Contract
