Summary of Position: Provide high-quality, caring, and certified instruction to students and work collaboratively with district administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the board to accomplish or surpass the educational goals of the district. Work as a collaborative team member to implement the curriculum and accomplish short- and long-term academic goals.

Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Secondary 6-12 Teaching Certification in ELA required. Additional core area certifications preferred.

Must meet Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

A criminal background check fingerprinting, is required.

Regular, Reliable, and Punctual attendance.

Instructional planning for the classroom and the delivery or direction of instructional activities.

Provide opportunities for individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum to the needs of each student.

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

Develop, provide, and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials, and techniques that best meet students' needs.

Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents, both in writing and verbally.

Maintain student records, student achievement, and attendance using district-approved technology.

Maintain strict confidentiality.

Other Requirements:

Ability to perform essential functions while adhering to all building and district policies regarding attendance, business procedures, safety, professionalism, and personal appearance.

Participate as part of a work team and work effectively with colleagues.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designated person.

Reports to: Building Principal

Pay Rate: As stated per the Collective Bargaining Agreement
