Where Imaginations Run Wild and Confidence Takes Center Stage!Pay: $600 - $750 per week based on experience and dependability.
Do you love kids, have a flair for drama, and enjoy making a difference? Then we want you to join our cast of amazing drama teachers for the summer!
About UsDrama Kids is not your average summer drama program. We “Act Up” with purpose. We use creative developmental drama to build confidence, communication skills, and teamwork in kids, all while having a blast. No sets. No auditions. Just imagination, energy, and fun!
What You’ll Do- Teach high-energy, creative drama camps using Drama Kids’ proven curriculum, including theater games, improvisation, movement, speech, and performance activities.
- Lead daily warm-ups, name games, confidence-building exercises, and imaginative play that keep students engaged and moving.
- Guide students through themed drama activities such as talent shows, band creation, mini-scripts, silent scenes, rap circles, and group improvisation.
- Facilitate age-appropriate theater games that emphasize teamwork, leadership, listening skills, and expressive communication.
- Lead and assist with daily themed crafts (such as tour posters, album covers, and DIY microphones) and help students proudly present their work.
- Supervise children throughout camp activities, transitions, snack breaks, bathroom breaks, and play time to ensure a safe, positive environment.
- Assist younger campers with lunch and snack routines, including organization, clean-up, and transitions back to activities.
- Play structured games with students during breaks and help maintain camp energy and positive behavior.
- Encourage shy students, celebrate effort, and help each child feel confident performing in front of others.
- Serve as a positive role model who brings enthusiasm, creativity, and kindness to every camp day.
- Build strong relationships with students and communicate positively with parents during pick-up and special participation moments.
- Work with children ages 5–12 in elementary schools and community locations across Metro Detroit West, including Novi, Northville, Plymouth, Wixom, Canton, Brighton, South Lyon, and Livonia.
- Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm. Your schedule will be 8am – 4pm.
- Camps run weekly, from June 8th – August 28th.
- Located in Livonia, South Lyon, Northville and Novi.
- We will have 12 camps, so you can work whatever camps fit best with your schedule and preferred location.
- Must be at least 18 years old (state of Michigan requirement)
- Training:
We will do a 5–7 hour lead teacher training before you can lead a Drama Kids class. - Teachers will do a rotating schedule for lunch breaks while maintaining student supervision as needed.
- Important:
We are hiring for drama camps this summer. Our camps start the second week in June 2026. Which means we need to get teachers hired and trained in May. - Must pass a background check (required to work with children in Michigan).
- This is a 1099 contract employee position.
- This is a high-energy, on-your-feet role that involves movement, games, dancing, acting, and active supervision throughout the camp day.
- Teachers are expected to jump in, model enthusiasm, and participate fully in drama games, movement activities, and performances.
- You’ll be sitting on the floor, standing, moving around the room, and engaging with kids constantly, not sitting behind a computer.
- Ideal for people who love being active, expressive, playful, and creative.
- If you enjoy performing, leading games, laughing, and being the highlight of a child’s summer, this role is for you.
- If you’re looking for a quiet, seated, or screen-based position, this likely won’t be the right fit.
- Must be able to stand, move, and actively engage with children for extended periods, and lift basic camp supplies (craft bins, props).
- Have high energy and a big heart for kids.
- Love drama (the fun, on-stage kind!)
- Are confident managing a class.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Bonus points if you have theater or teaching experience (but not required!)
- Can commit to at least 2 months of the 3 months in the summer.
- Paid to play (seriously, we act like aliens and robots for a living.)
- Make a real impact and change little lives.
- You can pick the weeks you want to work.
- Great pay and team culture.
- Be part of the world’s largest drama program!
- Have a blast!
